So here it is, the Gathering Niagara Blawg. Musings, intros, connections, and stuff. Some of it even useful! ;) This particular post is just a howdy-do; in future I'll be wowing you with interviews and intros; how-tos and diddly-dees. Twice a month, just like that, with a friendly newsletter to let you know.
Unless you've fallen down a rabbit-hole and landed here randomly (hello, Alice), I have gently guided you in this direction to tell you about LOCOL (Lauren O'Malley's Community Opportunities for Learning), the newest division of my Gathering Niagara endeavours.
A dreams-come-true, it's-finally-happening confluence has led us all to this beautiful, serene and potential-filled space where pretty much anything can and will happen: learning, dancing, singing; making, working, talking: growing.
LOCOL connects us all, as I have learned while building the concept.
You're getting to know me: I'm that person who approaches you on your lawn, at the grocery store, over tea, and probes you to find out what you know, what you have to share, what you would like to learn.
That's how I found Howard Bogusat and his bees; Jinnie Gordon and her honeycomb of incredibly diverse skills (knot tying to accounting, and pretty much everything in between); mother-and-daughter yoga teachers—and, with any luck, you and your 'thing'.
I've also been borrowing my daughter's friends for 'crafternoons' and 'craftovers,' wherein many beautiful things are made, including those adorbs marshmallow pillows (top right).
So, perhaps you'll do me—and ultimately yourself—the kind favour of riffing through my questionnaire (how I love thee, Typeform!), and help me shape this community space.
LOCOL is the great connector, a hive, a swarm; and I am your Queen Bee.
Get in on the buzz!
Interesting bee fact: The nature of the queen defines the hive. If she is mean, you've got a whole swarm of evil; if she's creative, curious and engaged, you have… LOCOL! ;)
